A Hub for Literacy and Learning

The new LA clinic will serve as a vibrant hub for literacy and learning, providing a range of programs and resources designed to support learners of all ages, both in-person and virtually.

Programs and Services

  1.  Reading and Spelling Program: Discover Reading©, our research-based, results-proven program, is taught in a one-to-one setting, and is designed to systematically teach reading and spelling to children. Our program encompasses three levels to accomplish this: Beginner – for a foundation in reading; Basic and Advanced – for struggling students of all ages; and Enrichment – for those students looking for able readers wanting a boost in reading and/or spelling.
  2. Comprehension Program: Discover Meaning© was designed to strengthen reading comprehension with a systematic and engaging approach based on the theory of dual-coding. Creating mental images for information is fundamental to comprehension and communication. The heart of reading is understanding and enjoying what you read. In our one-to-one setting, children will build these skills in order to:
    • develop higher level comprehension skills
    • learn strategies to aid in note-taking, studying, summaries, answering questions
    • make reading more enjoyable
  3. Language Program: Discover Language Building Blocks is designed to help learners develop an understanding of the English language, including expression, and skills for listening, communicating, inferencing, and visualizing, as well as basic grammatical skills. The activities are designed to engage children in rich contextualized discussions through meaningful interactions with relevant vocabulary.
  4. Early Literacy Programs: Designed for young children, these programs focus on developing foundational reading skills through fun and interactive activities. The aim is to instill a love of reading from an early age.

A Community-Centric Approach

The Reading Foundation’s new location in Los Angeles is strategically situated to serve a diverse and vibrant community. By collaborating with local schools and community organizations, we aim to create a network of support that extends beyond the walls of our facility.
